SAME SKY  

I close my eyes and still can see the stars up in the sky,
And know you're breathing underneath,
The very same sky as I.

Where are you in the scheme of things, or was the thing your scheme?
How you dangle my battered heart,
Upon that tiny string...

Is it possible for one to send, love through the universe?
And is that really love you send,
Or something you’ve rehearsed.

A comet streaks by in the night, a luminous trail behind,
I wonder if it can carry my thoughts
More from my heart than mind.

Then I see how quickly it fades, the burning light so bright,
It’s gone as quickly as one can blink
Leaving nothing but the night.
