I had a haunting dream last night, It crept into my sleep.
Deja' vu enveloped me and I began to weep...

Your face was clear as it could be,
Your eyes, deep as the churning sea,
Their blueness almost blinded me,
What burned behind them, I could not see.

Emotion swelled inside my heart,
Tears pooled and droplets spilled,
I knew we'd live our lives apart;

You turned away, I watched you go,
That sad lost feeling began to grow,
The same old feeling I'd come to know,
So many tears and years ago.

I awoke to the dawn still and gray,
My mind was focused on yesterday,
I closed my eyes, I felt warm and safe,
I still had your heart in a secret place.
