When my grand-aunt, Ann Miller (nee Leitsch), passed away in 1998, her daughter found several letters written from Germany among other momentos saved in a bread bag at the back of a closet.  (Yes, a bread bag!)  These letters were all written in German, of course.  In the months after receiving copies of these letters, I've managed to have several of them translated.

English Translation

Here is an English translation of a letter written from Sister M. Thomasa to Ann.  Sister M. Thomasa was the Mother Superior at a convent in Reisbach, Saarland, Germany, where two of Ann's mother's sisters were nuns.  Ann sent a package to her aunts and the other nuns at the convent.

Sister M. Thomasa's Letter

Ann sent a package to her mother's two sisters who were nuns in Reisbach, Saarland, Germany.  One of her aunts sent her a letter to thank her for the package.  It was probably the same package that Sister M. Thomasa thanked her for sending.

Sister Salina's Letter

This is a letter from Ann's cousin, Lenchen Schickling, expressing thanks for a package Ann sent to her in Keulos, Germany.
