Mesa was named after the Southwestern city of La Mesa, New Mexico. La Mesa means "the table" in Spanish. It has been a while since we've had a young bitch in our home and Mesa has truly brought joy to our home. She is a friendly, fun-loving dog who puts her all into everything she does from her enthusiasm in the breed ring to her intensity hunting in the field. Training Mesa is a joy, because she is a quick study and loves to learn and do whatever I ask of her. Mesa loves to play with toys and always seems to have one in her mouth. Her favorite toy is a soft giggle-ball that laughs when squeezed. When she makes it giggle I think it is Mesa laughing or at least this is what I think Mesa would sound like.

Mesa began her show career by winning her first two points at 6 months old at her first show. Mesa placed 3rd in Amateur Walking Derby on June 6, 2004 at the El Paso Del Norte GSP Club field trial. She finished her both her championship and junior hunter titles in March 2005.

Mesa picked up a 4-point major at the Galveston County Kennel Show on July 18, 2004 also winning Best Bred-by Vizsla. Later that day, Mesa went on to win Sporting Group 1 in the Best Bred-by competition.

Mesa continued to show off in the conformation ring by winning Best Opposite in Puppy Sweepstakes at the 2004 VCA National Specialty held in Fort Worth, Texas on November 11, 2004. Her personality really came through that day. The next day she placed 2nd in the Bred-by Exhibitor class. She was a little too silly and did not hold still long enough for the judge to give her a win. Oh well, her attitude is what I love about Miss Mesa.
