The Bahá'í Faith was first mentioned in the United States at a meeting at the World Parliment of Religions in Chicago in 1893. More about the early history of the Bahá'ís in the Unites States can be found by visiting the National Baha'i web pages The Bahá'ís living in Portsmouth had been meeting prior to 1928 and on April 21, 1928 formally established the first Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Portsmouth .
