The goal of the PSO is to bring high-quality symphonic music to the community, enriching us all in the process. This goal is accomplished in several ways. Most local schools don't have a string orchestra program, and the PSO provides a valuable group performance experience to the younger members of our orchestra. This experience extends to those who have a serious love for performing such works, but who don't play professionally. The PSO orchestra gives amateur members an opportunity to play the great symphonic works, from the Baroque to the Contemporary, along side professionals and semi-professionals, all under the baton of a wonderfully talented conductor.

The PSO also enriches our community by bringing a symphony experience to the heart of the Seacoast, through its concerts and outreach programs.  Many Seacoast residents would like to be able to see a professional orchestra perform in Boston or Portland on a regular basis. But time and money can prevent many from this realizing this desire. The PSO provides local, inexpensive concerts and a high degree of musicianship for the enjoyment of all Seacoast residents.

Members of the PSO are also available to play in chamber groups for your functions or if your school needs additional musicians for your musical productions. We offer a core group of musicians who are accustomed to playing together.
