Welcome to Gringott's. There ain't no safer place, 'cept maybe Hogwart's.
There are several items in the photo below. On the right, in the front, is a Gringott's Money Bag. This money bag was used on-screen in the Gringott's scene in Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone. Numerous money bags full of Gringott's coins can be seen in the wagons being pulled by Goblins, as Harry and Hagrid walk through the bank on the way to the Head Goblin. This is one of those bags.
To the left of the bag are two sets of Gringott's coins, which were used on-screen in the vault scene. As Vault 687 is opened and Harry gazes at the pile of money, these coins are somewhere in that huge pile.
Behind these items, in the cards, are two more sets of coins. They were not used in the movie, but were cast from the same dies as the money that was used on-screen. These coins are not exactly identical to the screen-used coins; there is a way to tell the difference between the ones made for commercial sale and the ones used on-screen. But what those differences are, I'll never tell...

Below is a display containing a Gringott's Bank check that was used on-screen in the Gringott's Bank scene. You can see the Goblins "processing" the bank checks as they put them on the spindle (note the hole in the middle of the check - it was caused by a Goblin putting the check on the spindle).

Next is a Gringott's Bank Ledger used in the same scene in the first movie. The ledger was used by a Goblin in the Bank, and even has a quill pen to go with it!
Here's a view of the open Ledger.
