Another Prayer of Hope from Prayer of God Ministries, Prayer and Poetry written by Elena Ramirez~~~~Poem Entitled: "LEAVING THE PAST BEHIND" Inspired, by My Lord Jesus, after having a terrible week, of attacks, physically for my husband and also us as a family, I felt defeated, spiritually I was drained...and the Lord reminded me, of what he told the devil, and he said: Get thee behind me you old devil, and that is what I am saying now, because Christ is behind me, protecting me....Hallelujah!

 

Leaving the

 Past Behind

 

 

Father, As I pray

I want to walk away

From the past. I want to cast

Those things behind

The things I seem to find,

that remind me

 Of who I used to be…Not free

Habits I suppose,

In how I looked at

Circumstance....

With no hope, to have a chance

To live incomplete…and in defeat

That was how I used to be

Not free

In bondage to sin

I just could not win

Not until, I found Christ to begin

To live life, abundantly

Not only here, but for eternity

Yet, what I see…happening lately

Is “Stinking Thinking”

Old ways of thinking

That begins creeping in my mind

To remind me of who I used to be

But that is the enemy speaking to me…

I bind that, by Jesus who set me free

I know, that is the key

Even here, I see

that must stop from

 being my reality

I need to pray

To find my way, each day

I need to choose my words carefully

And not to speak negatively

I need to see and hear

By your word,

You have not given me a spirit of fear

I need to remind myself,

you are ever close and near,

right by me, here

I need to speak your word

To know, by the spirit I have heard

That I am created in your image

This is part of my heritage

I do offer my homage to you

And worship you, praying my heart Is true

Oh Lord, help me see this through

For I know not what to do

I do not want to go back to that feeling

that I am in defeat….

For I sit, at your feet and rest

My body and soul weary from this test

In this battle…Not wanting to fall

Just wanting to give you my best

and to be trusting too

Yet, the battle does not belong to me

But to you…

According to your word that is true

My Lord, I seek you, to see me through

You did not promise, it would be easy

But because you took the loss

At the cross

I am free…to see

This ever so clearly…

I can have life, abundantly

You are Comforting me,

You do hold me close

Letting me know

You will never leave or forsake me

But I must continue on

I must, by your sake

Partake in thy ways, to stay strong

I must turn from that which is wrong

I must do, all I can, by you

To show myself true

I must obey, and pray

I must leave the past behind

To find my way

And only you my Lord

Can make a way…

I want to see myself leaving

these doubts at your throne…

These insecurities that I have known

that cause me to stumble and fall…

I leave them here, bold without fear

and call on your name

The name above all names

And claim, I can do all

things through Christ….

For it is by your righteousness…

that I am free

To be the very best I can be

Lord, I vow to seek thee

More heartily and in doing so

I pray, you receive all glory

As a testimony…

For helping me see…

You do show me

How great is thy mercy!

As I cast my care upon you

You take my burden

and just that sudden

I can leave the past behind

For it is you my God, that I do find !

Father, I offer praise and thanks,

I feel in the holy spirit, it is time to

Truly let go of the past.

To remind myself, I am your child,

and though things are not always easy.

I need to trust you. I need to go to that

 next level in my faith, and wait and

rest in you. To have the mind of Christ,

I must continue to seek you in the word.

I will not go back to that place of defeat.

I trust you, my Lord.

I will remember, when you

told the devil to get behind you.

When he tried to tempt you,

and he tried to make you weak. 

 I will remind him of that too. 

 For him to get behind you,

because Lord, you are my shield,

 and my protector.

You protect me, and remind me

of who I am in you, my Lord, and savior! 

In Jesus name. Amen
