It would be pointless to try to describe myself here in words. I've tried
it before~ you know, blogs and all that. That didn't work for me. You may be more interested in what I do: Draw, for
example. Paint. Make things. Fix things, like old mortise
locks. That's one of the things I used to do at Seattle Building
Salvage, when I wasn't restoring woodwork or stained glass. This year I plan to have at least one project going at
all times, which I'll describe on this page as the details coalesce. In fact If that keeps up I'll have to start another
blog. From my late teens into my early thirties I was a serial career-hopper. I've worked as a bicycle mechanic,
a baker, a professional popcorn popper, a commerical fisherman, a housepainter, an electronics manufacturer, a produce guy
at a couple of natural foods groceries, and, as I mentioned above, a restorationist. Feel free to take a look at the source on this page. I did this whole website in raw bare-bones HTML, the kind they
used back in the days of dial-up. Not because I know a lot about interwebs or anything, but because I'm always curious
about the inner workings of things, about the nuts and bolts and rotors and cams that make it all go. Like anyone in their
right mind I plan to bring myself up to date on website-building, but like an early 20th-century farmer getting ready to hook up an internal-
combustion engine where the waterwheel shaft used to go, I'm reluctant to abandon what seems simple and natural until I can
embrace the challenge of learning how to use new, more effective tools.
