Youth
Ministry:
Sunday School:
Sunday
School is part of our regular Christian Education program
providing classes for children age 3 through grade 12
throughout the school year. Combined Youth classes are held
during the summer months and occasionally on holidays, or on
special Sundays during the school year. Classes
take place on Sunday mornings from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Vacation Bible School: VBS is held for one week
in the early part of the summer. Prince of Peace joins with
First Presbyterian and St. John's Episcopal to bring an
Ecumenical Community oriented opportunity for ages 2 through
5th grade.
Prince of Peace Youth Group includes middle school (entering
6th-8th grades) and high school (entering 9th-12th grades)
youth from Prince of Peace and friends. This group meets
quarterly throughout the year for fun and fellowship.
Gatherings may include visiting a neighboring church or
other fun activities such as swimming, bowling, and
ice-skating.
Prince of Peace Youth Group Mission Statement:
Building a common foundation with each individual through
social events and service projects, our youth groups mission
is to share a nurturing environment that supports each other
for our Christian beliefs and provides an opportunity to
strengthen our Christian journeys.
Ecumenical Youth Group (L.E.A.P.FROGs).
The name is taken from the churches involved: Prince of
Peace Lutheran, St. John's
Episcopal, And First
Presbyterian, who Fully
Rely On God!
The L.E.A.P.FROGs focus on community, service, friendships,
and the love of God. The calendar is full of monthly
activities that may include a worship service & skiing at
Beaver Mountain, Christmas Caroling, gathering gifts for the
"Gifts of the Magi" program, dances, retreats, leaf-raking
for Habitat for Humanity, bowling, swimming etc.., etc..
L.E.A.P.FROG Inside Out: This past year L.E.A.P.FROG High School youth have been
involved in the weekly gathering of Inside Out
which allows youth to explore their faith and Christian
friendships with Bible study, worship, guest speakers and
team building activities! Based on the scripture Luke 17:21:
"People will not be able to say, ‘look, here it is!' or
‘there is its!' because the kingdom of God is inside
you". (WEV).
Mission Trips: Summer Mission
Trips provide an opportunity for youth to serve God outside
their home communities as they provide service to others,
join in fellowship with each other and with Christians from
the mission community, and build closer relationships within
their own youth community. The youth need to meet
criteria through the year to be involved in the summer
Mission Trip. These criteria include involvement with the
L.E.A.P.FROG activities, involvement in the church life of
their own congregations, and service hours. This group
focuses on fun, fellowship, team building, serviced
fund-raising. There is a High School Mission trip and
a Middle School mission trip.
CRUZANDO - 2006 ELCA High School Youth
Gathering
July 2006 seems like next summer- well it is,
however, our Prince of Peace high school youth are
gearing up right now to attend our ELCA national
youth gathering in San Antonio, TX next July!
It started with designs.. a meeting and then T-shirt
designs, in an attempt to raise money, raise
awareness and to unite our Utah Conference and Utah
Lutheran youth! Our youth group designed a shirt to
be worn by Utah Lutherans when they attend the
gathering next summer! A design has been picked
with the help of our fellow Utah Conference Pastors
and our Prince of Peace congregation! Preparations
for T-shirt sales are underway!! The youth also
plan to sell wristbands as well! We thank our Utah
Conference Pastors for their time and thoughtful
T-shirt design consideration as well as allowing us
to present our designs at their August meeting. We
also thank Prince of Peace members and friends for
your support as our youth "Journey With
Jesus- CRUZANDO". Mark your Calendars:
Our youth (and parents) are busy planning a "Good 'Ol
Fashioned Harvest Party" fundraiser with apple
bobbing, donut strings, Dutch oven dinner,
pie-eating contests and more scheduled for Sunday,
October 16th and a "Sweetheart Dinner and Dance"
fundraiser for Saturday, February 11th.
