Wally - The Greenwing Macaw
  Wally is old.

Wally has had several homes in his lifetime. All we know for certain is that he's not had the best life. He was in one home for 13 years in an attic in a tiny cage with no human contact. He came to us in March 2005 and we don't know his birthday but we do know he was around 20 when we got him.

We are not certain but we think this is the first time he's been around other birds like himself. He really enjoys the other birds and talks to them frequently. He and Biggie talk sometimes, Wally says "huh?" and then Biggie says "what?" and you can see where this is going!

In the photo above you can see the deep groove on the side of his beak. This was due to a sinus infection that was never treated. He does not have any illnesses now however he may have this groove for the rest of his life. He also has a congenital eye defect. His eyslids didn't open up all the way when he was a young chick. The corners of his eye are stretched a little. This does not affect his vision at all.

Wally is the smartest bird in our home and such a quick learner. He would not perch on your hand and he did not know how to step up. Within a few months we had him "stick trained" so we could take him from his cage to his play stand. Now he steps up on my arm from his cage.

Wally says: hello, hi, hello lover, come here, hello waller, go poop and more!
