| John Bartholomew was married to Elizabeth Hite (daughter of Daniel Hite and Catherine Ickes) on May 12, 1842 in New Philadelphia, Tuscawaras Co, OH. By 1850, she had moved to Chester Twp., Wayne Co., OH where she lived with John and family near the family of Jacob Ickes (1801-1866), who was almost certainly a brother of Elizabeth's mother, Catherine (Ickes) Hite. She and John later moved to Findlay, Hancock Co., OH where John died. In 1856, Elizabeth returned to Mill Twp., Tuscarawas Co., OH. Then, in December 1866, she moved to Maysville, DeKalb Co., MO along with her son and two of her daughters. Her son Simon supported her until his death in 1868 and then she earned a living by washing clothes for neighbors who would employ her. She also received a pension for Simon's service.
