The PSI Network
Management Suite includes the underlying model import capabilities necessary to
establish and maintain the operating model for run-time operations. PSI services
derive their operating parameters from the stored model imported from the PSI
modeling tools or GIS import process. PSI services provide the interactive
components necessary for providing applications the results that are presented
to the user. The PSI Network Management applications form a comprehensive suite
of tools for “Map Board” emulation.
Visualizer
Network
Management provides a Dynamic Visualizer for presentation of the schematic
and/or geographic views of the network model. The Dynamic Visualizer is
responsible for the presentation of the various types of visual representations
available in the model. Typically feeders/circuits are geographic
representations of the electrical distribution feeder network. Usually
substations are created and maintained in a schematic format representing the
electrical devices and bus work within the substation fence.
Real-Time
components of the Network Management System change the Network Management system
from Map Board emulation to a Dynamic Electronic War Board. A fundamental set of
web services include the Real-Time functions to disseminate status changes,
measurement updates, condition states, connectivity results, etc. The Actions
Menu supports the dynamic changes the user can invoke on the objects within the
model, including: Open, Close, Grounding, Jumpering, etc.
Actions
Right mouse
clicking on a symbol in the Visualizer invokes an Actions menu providing a list
of actions appropriate to the object. The options presented and sensitized,
depends upon the class of the device and the current state of the device. The
Device Actions tool performs device operations on any or all phases of a device
that may be operated, ground actions place a grounded state to the selected
device, and the appropriate symbology is updated in the Visualizer.
Locator
The Locator provides the ability to search, locate, and
present in the Visualizer an object in the model. There is support for user
defined view areas.
Operations Summary
This window
shows the list of current outstanding devices recorded in the network that are
not in their engineered state for “as built”, any operations annotations
including notes, tags, calls, outages, and crews. From this outage summary, you
can focus in the visualizer or the selected annotation management tool.
GIS Data Extensions to Network Management
The system data
model may either be developed and maintained by the PSI Graphic Model Designer
or may be imported from a GIS or other compliant system. When the time has come
to utilize these data sources, the system supports a standard XML based import
(similar to the MultiSpeak model import specification). This has the advantage
of accepting models from any number of different compliant data sources (e.g.,
GIS, Planning Models, etc.).
Customer Data Extensions to Network Management
Customer data
supporting capabilities in the network management system can be obtained through
a simple ODBC connection to an existing customer database or via access to a
separately maintained RDBMS table that PSI may access in order to obtain the
necessary customer data. This data populates fields in the applications. If this
data cannot be made available to the system, then these fields are simply left
blank.
