PC Crew Chief Camp

At this camp we will plan for the year, review board responsibilities, get organized, and talk about goals and possibilities for the year. All PC crew chiefs and assistant crew chiefs should attend.


DANCE MOVEMENT WORKSHOP with Patrishya Fitzgerald

This is a class for anyone who wants to improve his or her ability to move and dance on stage. Eight sessions for $80. Deposit of $10 to hold a space. Balance due first day of class. This American classic by Thorton Wilder tells the story of ordinary citizens living in the imaginary town of Grovers Corners, New Hampshire in the first decades of the twentieth century. This production will focus on the similarities between this mythical town and our town of Acton. The performances on October 31 & November 1 will be “site-specific”, meaning that they will begin at ABRHS and travel to the Woodlawn Cemetery and Chapel.

KISS ME, KATE / Musical

It’s opening night of a new musical version of “The Taming of the Shrew” and the cast is hoping for a hit. The show's bickering stars, Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi, realize it’s also the first anniversary of their divorce. In their dressing rooms before the show opens, they recall happier times as struggling actors. Lilli receives flowers from Fred and she realizes she is still in love with him. But when she reads the card and learns the flowers are meant for another actress named Lois Lane, she wreaks havoc on stage. Problems are compounded when Lois' boyfriend, Bill Calhoun, signs Fred's name to a gambling debt and the thugs show up demanding payment.

This 1948 musical comedy was Cole Porter’s comeback and his most successful Broadway show. Songs include: Another Openin’, Another Show; So In Love, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, Too Darn Hot and many more!

DRAMA FESTIVAL PLAY / TBA

February 27 – March 27

This production will be presented at the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival Competition. The competition has three rounds: preliminary, semi-finals and finals. Judges choose the schools that advance to the semi-final and final rounds. In the past four years, A-B has advanced to the final round three times. Locations of the preliminary competition will be announced in January. There will be one performance at A-B on March 5.

CLASS PLAY COMPETITION

May 8

This annual evening of friendly competition pits the classes against each other in a battle for bragging rights and the winner’s trophy. Plays are 30 minutes in length, directed and produced entirely by students. Judges choose the best show as well as outstanding actors and techies. The 2009 winner was the sophomore play, “Drop Dead, Juliet,” directed by Ashley Ayoob and Katy Early.
