.tgc Files

January 13, 2007

Terragen saves it's data in XML type files (.tgd files). This means that these files are both readable and modifiable (with care, of course). To make the modification process easier and safer, Planetside has added the ability to export and import Node Clip Files (.tgc files). These files allow you to save (and later import) all the data associated with a node.

This tutorial describes how to make some useful node clip files.

Orthogonal Cameras

January 13, 2007

First, create three new cameras.

This link (Create Camera) shows you how to do this.

Set the X camera so it looks to the right down the X axis. Set the Y camera so it looks down the Y axis from above and set the Z camera so it looks out the Z axis.

Verify the camera placement on the Atmosphere map. Hint: Click the Atmosphere button.

Finally, save the cameras in a node clip file.

You do this by selecting each camera (Ctrl left click in Windows). Then, right click in the Cameras Node and choose "Save Nodes as Clip File...".

This is what the '.tgc' file should contain.
