Dear PRO Watermaker:
We installed your PRO Watermaker [PRO 500 Modular Engine-Driven] aboard our boat, a Gulfstar 50' sailing ketch with Genset, last August 2003.
We used the PRO 500, 20 gallons per hour engine-driven unit since then. We cruised from San Francisco to Mexico, Sea of Cortez. From there to Hawaii then to Christmas and Fanning Islands. We are now back in Hawaii.
This unit has performed flawlessly. We make between 30 to 60 gallons per day or as needed. This means fresh water showers for us and our boat. Also clothes washer.
In Fanning Island, the water was very dubious and we actually supplied another boat with fresh water as they also had a child aboard.
I would highly recommend the unit for several reasons:
Beautiful fresh water (of course.)
Ease of installation
After sales support. Although we had no major problems, the couple of inquiries we made were answered promptly and courteously.
Feel free to pass this information to anyone that asks.
p.s. We met several other boaters who had the 2 other major brands aboard at twice the price and less than half the water and needless to say, there was some head scratching.
