Starting in college, and from time to time since, I've worked on getting the information contained in Edwin's book transcribed and propagated on the internet where it may reach those unfamiliar with the book. Additionally, I would love to update it—a lot of family history is contained in the century since Edwin did his research.

Edwin Augur wrote in his book's introduction:

"If, besides furnishing much interesting historical and genealogical information, this book shall be a spur and a help to noble living, the compiler's efforts in connection with its publication will have been amply rewarded.

May the book be a means of strengthening family ties and of promoting fraternal feeling, mutual acquaintance and friendly interest among those of kin, widely separated, and heretofore strangers to each other. May it also help us to lovingly cherish the memory of our dear ones who have gone from the earthly homes in which they once had so loving and so prominent a place."

A century later I cannot improve upon Edwin's sentiments. Since I first put the family history on the web in the early to mid-1990s I've received many e-mails from people related to me in one way or another. These connections have been this 21st-century compiler's reward.

If you are in any way related to anyone named in the book (either in the portion I've already transcribed and have on the web, or in parts I've not gotten to (i.e., you've seen the actual book and know the link)) I look forward to hearing from you as well.

If you have any information on any descedants of Robert Augur please share it with me. I am Philip S. Augur (X-17). You can e-mail me psaug@comcast.net--if you still like to employ the services of the USPS, my address is:

The names of all Augurs are given in order by generation, with a genealogical number affixed to each entry. The number includes a Roman numeral referring to the generation. Children of female Augurs are not included in the numbering, but are rather given lower case Roman numerals, i., ii., iii., etc.

Sets of brothers and sisters are separated from their cousins by the rope divider. Their male Augur ancestry is shown once for all the brothers and sisters, immediately preceding the eldest sibling.

As the surname Augur can always be inferred from the genealogical number, it is omitted. [Surnames are included with entries that have a genealogical number only in cases of a variation of the name (e.g. - Augir or Alger).] Other surnames which can be inferred from preceding mention are also omitted.

This is a work in progress, so not all links are operational between parents/children.
