Joseph D. McKay

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2000 in St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, Or. For Joseph D. McKay, who died March 24th at age 74. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday March 27th. at the church.

Mr. McKay was born July 20, 1925, in St. Paul, where he lived all of his life. He farmed for a few years before becoming postmaster in St. Paul, a position he held until his retirement . He was a mayor of St. Paul and the founder of the St. Paul Mission Historical Society. He was a member of the church and a charter member of the Archdiocese of Portland Historical Society. In 1949 he married Rosella Gooley.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Tom and Jim; daughters, Kathleen Fromherz, Ruth Sisto, Jean Roy, Carol McKay, Joan Spada, Grace Oleman, Mary Jones and Rosemary Tanner; brothers, Harold, Richard, Arthur and Francis; sisters, Agnes Hemshorn, Mary Henderson and Nellie Simone; 27 grandchildren; His sons, John and Daniel, died in 1968.

Interment will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The family suggest remembrances to the St. Paul Historical Society, PO Box 158, St. Paul, Or.67137. Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn.
