Philosophy of Art:
Art for me contains an element of mystery.   Each piece seems to have an unknown component
within the spirit of the work that excites me.  It may be that this same element of mystery is in
life itself.
Raku, a firing process developed in the Far East, has a deep relationship to the four basic
elements: earth, air, water, and fire.  It needs all of these in its creative process.  It is in doing
Raku that I have come to realize that I do not create alone, but that One creates in and through me.
I have a certain love relationship with my work while I am making it.  I love the tactile nature
of my art form, therefore, it is all hand built.  I often think of the passage from Jeremiah 18:6
while I work:  "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand."
