A review of progress to date was presented to the congregation at the July 2 meeting. Also, the congregation survey was completed.
3. Congregation Survey - Discuss results of survey.

5. Creative Planning Session - CPS is on July 19. Discuss agenda for CPS.
Pastor Jeff, Tom Mowrer, and Roy Koch will meet on July 14 to finalize the agenda for the CPS. The purpose of the CPS is to gather more ideas for the new facility. Also, brainstorming sessions will take place to help clarify specific issues (e.g. will there be a new kitchen and, if so, what will it look like?)
6. Discuss overall plan - especially near term planning between CPS and presentation of layout to Governing Board in November.
The overall plan was presented to the committee last month and is attached to the June 14 meeting minutes. The next task if for the BC to make a layout of the new facility and present it for Governing Board (GB) review and approval. The presentation to the GB is planned for November 2003. If the GB approves the layout then an architect will be hired to further develop the layout. Pastor Wood stated that it would be valuable for the architect to make a model of the layout as part of his work.
7. Other Items
Near the end of the meeting a general discussion took place concerning the purpose and philosophy of the building program. The following points were made:
The building program should be based on the churchs reason for being. We should focus on our purpose and any new facility should be consistent with that purpose.
We should look at where we expect the church to be 25 years from now and make the building consistent with that vision.
The general purpose of the church is worship, edification, and evangelism (in that order). The building program must be in harmony with this purpose. A church building speaks to the theology of the church. We need to keep that in mind. The building needs to be on target Biblically.
The Building Committee should focus on finding Gods will. If the new facility is within Gods will then God will provide solutions to all the problems encountered by the committee.
