Merry Christmas, Manteca!
Left: In a nod to our agricultural heritage, the city's Christmas Tomato. Safety warning: Motorists driving around Manteca are cautioned to be on the look out for boy scouts and the elderly jumping into the street in front of them. Use care to avoid hitting them. The "Try to Miss the Kid" program is sanctioned by the Manteca Police department in an effort to teach motorists the importance of being attentive. In this well thought out program, a police officer pushes a young or elderly person into the street at various busy intersections. Then, the policeman lectures or cites any motorist who comes close to hitting the subject. This sounds like a joke, and I wish it were a joke, but this has been reported by several reliable news sources.
The thousand dollar hot dog. That's how much every man, woman and child has paid for the Big League Dreams ballpark. And what do we get for it? A hot dog. One per person please!

New feature:
A look at things that you read here first. - You read here that the Manteca Unified School Board's plan to charge "$2 a day to ride the school bus" was just a propaganda threat, to frighten people into voting them a raise. Jackie wrote it would "quietly go away." I didn't know it would only take 8 days after the election! Read more at Measure M.
- You can also read about how, back in October, I wrote that the "hype" about the terrible flu season was just a ploy to sell the new expensive vaccine. See Flu Attack!
- You can also read about the tragedy in the Larch-Clover neighborhood. The humble people in this enclave were living relatively independent lives. That is, until the City of Tracy saw the land and coveted it. Now, as I predicted back in October, lives are being crushed and people are at risk of losing their homes.
- Manteca bond , supposed to fix the "falling apart" schools, is going to lavish pay raises for administrators..
