For a family, there is no greater joy in life than a new child in its midst.

A new child re-awakens within us reverence for all life. A new child reminds us of the continuity from one generation to the next. A new child represents hope for the future. A new child reminds us that the ultimate purpose of our lives is about something larger than ourselves.

For a family, there is also no greater privilege or responsibility than that of loving, caring for, and nurturing a child so that the child may fulfill the promise of his or her life.

Many families desire to have a ceremony that celebrates the birth or adoption of a child and also recognizes the responsibility of parents, siblings, other family members, and close friends to the child.
