The first step in the swap is to gut the bronco. Here's the last picture of it before it goes in for surgery.

It's been a while since it was washed and I never did get all the trim items on.

It only took a few hours to get that beast out of there. Anyone in need of an underpowered gas guzzler?

You may notice the scenery has changed from the bodywork photos. I've recently moved to a new house in Beaverton, OR with a three car garage. This is the enlarged 3rd bay. It's 14 ft wide and 32 ft long.

August 7th 2004:

When I dropped the tranny out of the bronco I literally DROPPED it because it didn't want to balance very well on my standard floor jack. Determined not to do that with the transfer case I fabbed up a support bracket and bolted it to the jack. Worked pretty well. This was of course to save me the trouble of buying/renting a transmission jack.

The bronco is almost completely gutted. If I'd taken this shot from a lower angle you could see all the way back to the rear axle.
