Rachel Drives a Jr. Dragster
After racing Quarter Midgets for 18 months, Rachel was showing interest in trying a Junior Dragster. With Lyle's history in drag racing it seemed like a natural thing for Rachel to be curious about. Lyle still has many friends in the drag racing community so he was able to arrange a test drive. Randy Guest is the Albuquerque VP Racing Fuel distributor and the Greenberg Racing team's supplier for the methanol they use in the Mini Sprint. Randy's children, Amber and Clay, both are very successful Junior Dragster racers. Clay is similar in size to Rachel so no cockpit adjustments were necessary. Lyle let Randy handle the orientation with Rachel. After going through the steps that would need to be done to make a run, Randy and Clay belted Rachel in. Rachel did a great job of rolling the car into the staging beams and made a very nice mid-13 second run. She said that it was a lot of fun and that she was ready to do it again. On the second run she had a quick lift, but dipped into the 12 second bracket. By her third run she was all out with a mid-12 second run.

Rachel's general impression was that this was very different than the quarter midget, but very fun. When pressed which she liked better she diplomatically said that they are both very cool and she would be happy doing either one.
