My name
is Michelle and I am 37 years old. I live in Illinois, in a suburb
about 8 miles northwest of Chicago.
I have a WONDERFUL husband named Tom and am OWNED by 13 beautiful kitties!
In August of 1996 after a terrible battle with a liver
disorder called Wilson's Disease and years of excessive use and abuse of drugs
and alcohol, I started treatment and the Program of Recovery has changed my
life.
This page is dedicated to all those recovering people who make a
difference in my life every day.
This page is also dedicated to CATS
everywhere. During all the bad times I ever had, I had a kitty by my side to
purr gently and get me through the rough times.
This page is dedicated
also to people suffering from illnesses all over the world. There is a place for
each and every member of God's world and He will help you to find it if you let
Him.
I want to welcome you here, to a page filled with hopes and dreams
and a lot of sharing and caring. In my life today, filled with honesty and
openmindedness, I needed to set aside a little area for others to come, relax,
read, and be serene if just for a few minutes.
First and farmost, I love the Recovery Program. Living the 12-steps has made me a better person. Below and on the following pages are Recovery poems I especially like.
I teach elementary school: grades K-4 because I love children and I want to be a significant influence in shaping the lives of future generations. Childhood education is so important because we are responsible for helping them grow and becoming tomorrows leaders in society. A difficult role, but one I take pride and joy in doing.
I love to bowl, listen to a wide variety of music...from Sinatra to Stones to Keen. I like to go dancing. I like to read and constantly have a book in my hands. Ikeep busy in recovery and I like it that way because I am always learning and growing.
I love cats because they are calming and soothing creatures that have a mind of their own just like me. Every time in my life that I remember being ill, I have had a cat by my side to comfort me. In sobriety it is often my cat that calms me down when I need it. By the way, I am OWNED by 7 cats in all!!!
