The many sides of Bill, all of them had smiles.
On Saturday May 23rd 1998 The Quadrapaws lost their president Bill Haun in a tragic jeep accident near Liberty, Washington. He was airlifted by SAR Helicopter to Providence Hospital. En route to the Hospital Bill passed away due to cardiac arrest.
We remember Bill for all of his great accomplishments as a Quadrapaws member and President. Bill joined the club in 1994, he made his presence known early. He didn't own a jeep or a tricked-out 4x4, he owned a stock l972 4x4 Chevy pickup. Early on he worried about fitting in with other fourwheelers but that soon passed. He and his family attended many working parties. His favorite work parties were the beach clean ups at Westport. In a tireless effort, Bill wouldn't quit until the work was done. When the Work was done, he would turn to a beach sport the Quadrapaws invented, and that was pallet surfing. Pallet surfing is a 4x4 towing a pallet in the soft sand with a rider trying to stand on the pallet. Bill and his son Brandon would do this for hours.
Bill was elected club president in 1997 and 1998. As president of our club, he seemed to pull everyone together into a close-knit group, almost family. He was an active member and the 4x4 representative at the Tahuya Forest Focus group. As a representative at the Tahuya Focus group, Bill earned the respect of the other user groups involved. Bill was a soft spoken man that was always willing to help others in any manner. He always paid attention to detail and if there was a problem or situation, he would figure out the best way to accomplish the task.
Our club will dearly miss our President and good friend, Bill Haun. But he will always be remembered in our hearts for the many good times we shared with him.
