Log 5 - Still In Mackinaw City |
| Hi All This is going to be a boring update! But I'm sitting here bored (drinking a Rum & Tonic) and you may as well be bored also! Today was a maintenance & laundry day. We decided that since the boat is sinking maybe we should do something about it. Also during the last two sails we have heard a loud slamming noise coming from below. It's only been one time per day but it's enough too get you wondering, "now what the hell was that?" So Capt. Russ climbed down into the bowels of the boat to do some exploring. I spent two hours inside the stern tightening steering cables and any bolt I could find! I checked all the thru hulls and tightened every hose clamp insight. Still no source for the "Phantom Noise." I think it's the ghost of Dr. DeBruin the previous owner! I also tightened the packing on the shaft. We ordered a new recoil mechanism for our outboard and it should be arriving in the morning. So with any luck, maybe we'll be in the Les Cheneaux's tomorrow? Actually, this is a good day for hanging out. It has been blowing around 30 knots all day. The wind is forecasted to shift to the North- Northwest and the temperature is supposed to drop 15 degrees! They are forecasting lows in the 30's! Welcome to the GREAT WHITE NORTH! Hopefully the next update will be more exciting! For now, anyone want some fudge? More Later R&R |
