The independence continues or shall I say "terrible twos" has arrived?  Ok, I suppose getting one molar and two canine teeth at the same time would make anyone a pain!  But the exaggeration of the pain is excruciating.   Before, she would fall, skin her knee, bounce during the fall, skin the same knee some more, and get up to laugh.  Now, if she walks backwards into the sofa (not run just walk), she could start to cry and point using her index finger as if it got hurt.  Oh such acting!

Nickol has decided recently that sitting in her booster chair is not the way to go.  Instead, sitting on an adult chair makes more sense.  Why not?  Everyone else sits in them.  Unfortunately, it's a bit harder for her to reach her food.  Luckily, she eventually realizes that food is more important and asks to be moved back to "her" chair by pointing at it.  But the next meal, she tries a different adult chair in the hopes that that one will work for her.

Her "doggie" is still her favorite stuffed animal but my pajamas have recently surpassed "doggie" as most needed object to carry around.  We even had to take it to Church the other day.  I've tried blankets but the pajamas are the it.  It's a good thing I have more than one pair.

The VanHerps came out for Nickol's 2nd birthday.  We got a "family" picture taken.

Nickol is now "independent".  She can "do it" by herself all the time now...or so she thinks.  Luckily, she's actually doing very well on a lot of things.  She is getting better about getting dressed.  I just need to teach her that she doesn't need to wear 2 layers of clothes.  Shoes, she is very close to getting on herself.  Well, only the Velcro kind.  Nickol is starting to "count" now.  She doesn't understand that she's actually counting something but as she walks up steps she says "toooo,  fooor, sick, ate, tin, yeah!"  Why it's only the even numbers, I'm not quite sure.

Nickol is growing leaps & bounds.  She's had the typical accidents:  falling after chasing a ball and scraping her face, trying to close the door on her fingers, and falling while climbing up on furniture (when she shouldn't!).  But they've all been minor and,  knock on wood, will continue to be so.

Her disposition continues to be more like Brian, very laid back except when food is involved.  Her stubbornness is just starting to show.  It's clear to me that she gets that attribute from me because I see it in me.  Luckily, she's rarely stubborn.  Fingers crossed that she remains that way but I won't hold my breath.

Like most children, she's fascinated by other "big kids".  But her favorite buddy is Brian.  Until recently, they played together in the same room.  It was so cute to see their faces light up when they saw each other.  But Nickol has moved to the next room and doesn't get to see him as often.

She runs around now and climbs on anything.  I am constantly in fear that she'll get hurt but I guess that's how she'll lear
