I picked up my 1967 Mustang Fastback GT on April, 7 2008 for $5800. I found the car on Craigslist
after looking for over a year. I flew to Ohio and purchased the car and then flew home, and I arranged to have the car
brought out to Washington using a trucking company. That worked out very well.
On this web page, I have pictures of the car as it was when I picked it up and pictures of how I want it to look when I get it fixed up. I will update the web page with other pictures during the restoration process. Some interesting things. The man I bought the car from had it for a year and decided that the rust damage was more than he was comfortable in dealing with. He says that the car had been sitting for 20 years or so when he bought it. The engine runs, but the brakes were shot and the rear spring shackles are poking through the trunk floor. The car is a 1967 Mustang Fastback GT. Previous owner was trying to make it look like a Shelby with the side scoops and trunk lid. Someone also installed a second set of tail lights in the rear. Also, someone installed a bunch of strip lighting all around the car and there is a rocker switch panel inside to turn it on. Odd. The car has the original 289 2v engine and C4 automatic transmission. Standard front power disc brakes for the GT model are there, and it has a floor console, overhead console, turn signal hood, front fog lights, and tilt steering wheel. |

As I get this page going, here are some pics, including the pic of Rad Rides by Troy's "Fast Forward Fastback",
which is what I am going to lean toward in my build of this car.

I hope to get it built within a month or so, then I can move the Mustangs into it and start the disassembly. Woohoo!! 12-5-09 WOW, I have not updated this in over a year! Ok, here is what has been happening. I got the garage built and moved the car in and disassembled it. The frame was sooooo rusted out that I bought a coupe shell and cut the top off and moved the fastback top over to it. I have spent the past year replacing little pieces of metal here and there and welding the top on so that it will look factory. I had to pull the cowl panel off and replace the cowl vents, as they were both rusted out. I have both rear quarter skins still to do yet, and I was working on the taillight panel today. Starting the excavation for my new garage. The cars sat here for a couple of months waiting for the garage to be built. The garage is ready! The cars get to move in finally! Now, just waiting to be disassembled. I got a rotisserie for a really good price and put the coupe on it the coupe is stripped and ready to go to the media blaster Picking up the coupe from the sandblaster And the coupe is back in the garage Playing around with the Flintstone brakes Completely rusted through, held together with fiberglass. SCARY!! Another pic of the rusted out floor another pic of the fiberglass that was holding the car together. Fiberglass was hiding this mess also And the front end is seperated! The bare shells The FB top has been removed. Lots of spot weld drilling!! Lots! The top on sawhorses The top has been removed from the coupe Set the FB top on the coupe body. Looking like a car again! New outer rear wheelwells We put the doors on to see how the new rear quarter skins line up. With the top and quarter skins on, just testing Replacing the cowl vents The other cowl vent is tacked in Fitting the replacement taillight panel |
