Tuesday, March 25 - Devil Dogs at Asian Tsunamis

The Tsunamis came into the series with high expectations after going 6-2 with a 2.53 team ERA and .288/.362/.485 line in first two series. However, the mighty Devil Dogs would simply not yield their first place position and sent a clear message to present and 4-time World Champions!

Game 1: Tsunamis face the first left-handed starter of the season and it does not go well. The teams only could muster 4 hits a piece but Barry did a better job of moving base-runners and shut out the Asians 2-0.

Game 2; Dogs got off to 7-0 lead in 2nd inning as two recurring negative themes for the Tsunamis this year both reared their heads: 1) The inability to make good defensive rolls to turn back walks or throw out runners and 2) Key and crushing errors by a barely fielding 2 squad. The good guys did bounce back with 6 runs but the Dogs held on to a 9-6 victory.

Game 3: Asians bats sent Strasburg packing with a 9-2 beating

Game 4: Asians put three up in 1st and things looked like a split but Barry makes key roll to throw out Zobrist at the plate with bases loaded to end the inning. Barry then challenged his crew in the 4th and 6th to "Keep the Line Moving"! The Dogs delivered with huge innings and an 8-5 victory for a 3-1 series win.

Game 1: Iwakuma serves a meatball to Jhonny Peralta in the 2nd to give Stars a 1-0 lead. Rajai Davis hits his first of 2 RBI doubles in the game to tie it in the 4th. Then my Johnson whipped out his own big stick and slammed a 2run HR in the 5th. Stars tack one on in the 8th but the Heads pen shuts them down for the 4-2 win.

Game 2: Heads jump out early with 1 in the 1st and 2 in the 3rd to take a 3-0 lead as my big Johnson collected 2 of the RBI. Heads leave their gloves in the dugout in the 5th as 2 errors lead to 4 runs for the Stars. Another error allows another unearned run in the 9th as Stars win 5-3. Stars pen returns the favor pitching 3.3 innings of stellar relief.

Game 3: Tyler "Dick" Thornburg tosses the team's 3rd 1-hitter of the young season and it was needed as Alex Rios' top of the 9th solo shot is all the Heads could muster. The only hit came on a Tuiososopo homer that was turned back. Kyle Lohse takes the tough loss.

Game 4: The much traveled John Lackey continues to prove his return to the Lemonheads is no fluke as he allows 1 run in 5 2/3 innings. Game tied 1-1 in top of 9th when my Johnson starts a little foreplay with a single. Pinch run Rajai Davis for him. Ian Desmond, who was 2-15 with 9K in the series, miracuously advances him to 3rd on a h&r. Wednesday, April 2 - Eliminators at Asian Tsunamis

Game 1:

Tsunamis take 4-1 early lead but E's bounce back to tie at 4-4 after 2 innings. No scoring again until bottom of 9th when Gentry walked, stole 2B and scored on a Reyes PH single when Brandon outsmarted the Champs by pinchhitting for a pinch hitter after a pitching matchup change. The Champs coming in batting .274 can't roll for 7 innings and deserve the loss.

Game 2:

Tsunamis go up 2-1 but bullpen blows lead in 8th to make it 2-2. Freeman doubles in bottom of 11th and pinch runner Bonifacio scores on a followup double by Donaldson who was the hero after Homering early on as well. Again the Champs bats are dead and were held scoreless for 10/11 innings.

Game 3:

Big Poppy hits 3-run homer in first as Asians take a 4-0 lead. Medlen cruises to a 5-0 start and Asian 5-1 victory. Again Asian bats are quiet for 7/9 innings

Game 4:

Asians take 4-0 lead in 3rd on Mercer HR but Elims bounce back with 3 of their own in 4th to come within one at 4-3. The bullpens did the rest as there was no more scoring in a 4-3 Asian win and series split.

20% of Season Report:

Two main problems of errors and poor defensive rolls which have plagued the Tsunamis all season were not keys but it still only resulted in a split. Tsunamis have the best hitting team in their 9 year history with team record lines of .266/.349/.448.but had a very poor performance vs. the Eliminators and the LOB problems continued. While the Tsunamis are also trending at a record low pace in strikeouts, HR's are down and SB's are non-existent with 3 SB and 6 CS in 20 games. Asians 11-9 record is disappointing but big picture is we are outperforming LY's championship unit after 20 games.

Monday, April 28 - Unhinged Wahoos at Asian Tsunamis

Game one tsunamis 3-2 10 innings
Alex Cobb continued to give up runs in the first allowing two on a kris Davis bomb. The wahoos charged back behind a Evan Gattis 2 run shot but Justin Wilson crapped the bed in the 10th giving up a double to Davis and a game winning RBI single by the immortal drew Stubbs. Cueto went 8 strong allowing one hit after the third inning.

Game 2 tsunamis 8-6 10 innings
The lumber came out for this series. Wahoos got 2 homers from Gattis and one each from encarnacion and Nolan arenado. It was not enough to overcome the awful pitching of dumpster fire CJ Wilson and Tyler clippard. Wilson was gross pegging two batters and clippard made coach bake mcbride get out the barf bucket as he gifted a walk off homer to hard hittin Ben revere. Lowrie, marte, and revere each had two rbi for the tsunamis.

Game three tsunamis 9-5
Through six the wahoos were up five to nothing but masterson and brothers kept the barf bucket full as they gave up hit after hit allowing the Asians to plate 6 runs in the 7th. The tsunamis also then took Sergio santos to pound town as miggy Cabrera rocked a two run shot in the ninth.

Game 4 tsunamis 2-1
In a pitchers duel between Adam wainwright and Andrew cashner, miggy and Gregorious (trying spelling it, I can't) provided just enough offense to get it done with each chipping in an RBI single. Big fat Pedro Alvarez provided the lone wahoo run on a second inning homer. Craig Breslow was a beast in the ninth for the wahoos giving up no hits or walks.

Wahoos now stand at 5-11.

GM 2 - Eliminators 4 Plague 3 (13 inn) - The Eliminators get to Annibal Sanchez early with 3 runs in the second highlighted by Dustin Ackley's two run double, his first hit of the year. The Plague would answer in the fifth. Torii Hunter's two out 3 run HR made the Eliminators pay for an Alexi Ramirez error. After a Jonathon Lucroy single in the 2nd, Sanchez would retire 19 consecutive Eliminators keeping the game tied at 3. During extras, the Eliminators would get 1st and 3rd with no outs in the 10th before Plague reliever Kelvin Herrera would wiggle out of the jam. The Plague would get a runners in scoring position in the 13th but Michael Brantley popped out to second the end the threat. Jay Bruce led off the bottom half with a double and with two outs Lucroy would double in the game winner. Over the final 6 2/3 innings, the Eliminator bullpen allowed only 2 hits and a walk. The Plague failed to score an ER over the final 21 innings pitched at home by the Eliminators.

GM 3 - Plague 8 Eliminators 7 (10 inn) - The Eliminators get to Plague rookie ace Jose Fernandez early. 3rd inning home runs by Ian Kinsler and Freddie Freeman provided 2013 POY David Price with a 4-0 lead. After 24 consecutive innings without an earned run, the Plague would break through in the bottom of the 4th on a 3 run blast by Mark Trumbo. A solo homer by Dexter Fowler in the 5th would tie the game at 4. The Eliminators would answer immediately. Game 2 hero Jonathon Lucroy would hit a 3 run blast off Fernandez to put the Eliminators back up 7-4. A 3 run 7th by the Plague, highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles by Michael Brantley and Lorenzo Cain, would knot the game at 7. The Eliminators had a chance to win it in the top of the 9th but Cain would gun down Jay Bruce at the plate on Alexi Ramirez's two out single to keep the game tied at 7. For the second time this year, Bobby Parnell, +54, would surrender a key home run that would lead to a loss. This time he surrenders the home run to Paul Goldschmidt leading off the bottom of the 10th. Goldschmidt's second hit of the series would provide the Plague with the win.

GM 4 - Plague 2 Eliminators 1 - A two out RBI single by Freddie Freeman in the first gave the Eliminators the early 1-0 advantage, but that would be the only run the Eliminators would get. A solo HR by Zach Cozart in the second and Paul Goldschmidt's RBI single following Torri Hunter's lead off triple in the 3rd would give the Plague all the offense that they would need for the win. The Eliminators would chase Plague started Jhouyls Chacin in the 6th after a lead off double by Joe Mauer followed by a Josh Donaldson single. Wesley Wright would come in and hold off the Eliminators. He would induce a pop up by Freedie Freeman and strike out Prince Fielder and Adam Jones to end the threat. The Eliminators would generate a scoring chance in the 8th but Joe Smith ended that threat and would set the Eliminators 1-2-3 in the 9th for a save. AJ Griffin would scatter 9 hits over 7 1/3 in the loss.
