Meeting Cancellation Announcement

The meeting scheduled for Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the McNamaras’ has been cancelled as there is no significant business to discuss at this time. A summary of activities to date follows:

I wrote a letter Ms. Kathleen Hoffman, Mt Holly Acting Township Manager, to request a meeting to discuss the recent flooding event. See:

I spoke with Ms. Hoffman on May 14. She informed me that, while the center gates on the dam were opened some time prior to the storm, she was specifically instructed not to open the side gates by Kevin Tuno of Burlington County Emergency Management due to concerns about flooding the downtown. She was allowed to open the gates on Monday after the storm had passed. I have not been able to speak with Mr. Tuno but will continue to try to contact him regarding this matter.

As a follow up to members’ requests to tour the dam in order to gain a better understanding of its workings, Ms. Hoffman gave me the name of the Public Works Director. I will try to set up a site visit for interested members.
