John Anderson (III) & Margaret Hay's children:
(John III was the son of John Anderson II & Elizabeth Stirling)


8-1) JOHN ANDERSON (IV)- Born in 1792 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland & christened there on July 30, 1792. He was a tenant farmer of 25 acres in Smithston and employed 3 labourers and 4 farm servants (source: 1851 census). John, like his father, was known for raising excellent Ayrshire diary cows and horses. The "Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland" awarded several prizes to him at the Glasgow livestock show. A couple of 1838 Scotsman newspaper articles mention that he received a silver medal and 10 Sovereigns (gold coins) for best Ayrshire Bull calf born after January 1837. John died on August 15, 1855 in Smithstone. The cause of death was Consumption. He was buried in the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard....+JEAN RONALD- Born: July 6, 1798 & christened on July 8, 1798 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Her parents were GEORGE RONALD (a farmer) & ISABELLA KIRKWOOD. Jean & John were married on December 10, 1819 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. She died on July 14, 1880 at Smithstone Farm. The cause of death was old age, & she was buried next to her husband.

8-2) JANET ANDERSON- Born c. March 5, 1794. She died on March 5, 1824 at Barbegs (belonged to her father) & was buried at the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard (Source: Cumbernauld Burial Register for 1817 to 1846).

8-3) ELIZABETH ANDERSON- Born c. 1795 & died on October 27, 1868 at Criaghead in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. The informant of her death was her Husband. Elizabeth was buried at the Kilsyth Old Churchyard....+PATRICK MARSHALL- Born about 1787. His parents were PETER MARSHALL & AGNES MILLER. He was a farmer in Kilsyth and died on July 17, 1874 at Criaghead in Kilsyth. His son, Patrick, was the informant of his death. He was buried at the Kilsyth Old Churchyard.

8-4) WILLIAM ANDERSON- Born on August 26, 1797 and died c. 1811 at about age 14.

8-5) JAMES ANDERSON, JUNIOR- Born on October 8, 1799. He was a miller at Third Part Mill near Yoker in the parish of New Kilpatrick & Master Baker on High Street in Glasgow, Scotland. James died at age 63 from Disease of the Kidneys on July 15, 1863 at 15 North Portland Street in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland....+MARY MILLER (She was a sister of Marion Miller. See Marion under generation 8. Their husbands were cousins)- Born on October 19, 1804 in Govan, Lanrkshire, Scotland. Her parents were JAMES MILLER (builder in Patrick, Lanarkshire) & MARION COLQUHOUN. Mary & James were married on June 11, 1822 in Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She died on January 19, 1886 & was buried in the Glasgow Necropolis (Lair 17 of the Lamba Section).

8-6) JEAN ANDERSON- Born September 4, 1801. She died on June 26, 1819 in Barbegs. Jean was 18 years old. She was buried at the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard (Source: Cumbernauld Burial Register for 1817 to 1846).

8-7) MARGARET ANDERSON- Born on July 21, 1803. She was a housekeeper. First, she lived with her mother. Afterwards, she kept house for her brother John's son, James, in Glasgow. Then she was with her brother John's daughter, Jean (Anderson) Meikle. The last place she kept house was at John Eadie's (widower of her brother James' daughter, Mary). Margaret died on November 18, 1877 at 40 Cook Street in Glasgow's Tradeston District. The cause of death was senile debility. The informant of her death was her bother, Robert, of 93 Cumberland Street in Glasgow.

8-8) ROBERT ANDERSON- Born on June 4, 1804. He was a joiner in the Gorbals District of Glasgow. Robert died in 1879 at the Govan Poor house....+ISABELLA ORR- Born on April 16, 1805 & christened on April 19, 1805 in Campbeltown, Argyllshire, Scotland. Her parents were EDWARD ORR ( a Coastguard man in Cambeltown & fisherman ) & ISABELLA JOHNSTON. She & Robert were married on December 12, 1828 in Glasgow. Isabella died on February 3, 1873 at Royal Infirmary of Glasgow. Her usual residence was 25 Salisbury Street in Glasgow. Isabella's husband, Robert, was the informant of her death.

8-9) MATTHEW ANDERSON- Born on March 14, 1806. He was a baker for many years at King Street in Glasgow. Matthew died about 1857....+MARY McKEAN- Born on September 13, 1803 in Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her parents were JOHN McKEAN & JEAN BOGLE. She & Matthew were married on June 28, 1831 in Glasgow. Mary kept a baker's shop on London Street in Glasgow until she died on December 9, 1864 at 24 London Street. Her son-in-law, William Borland, was the informant of her death.

8-10) GEORGE HILL ANDERSON- Born on January 7, 1808. He was a baker & then farmer in Hobart Town located in Tasmania, Australia. George died on November 22, 1867. He was buried in Hestercombe Uniting....+JANET TAYLOR- The birth date & place are currently unknown. Her father was a manufacturer in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. She & George were married on August 3, 1830 in High Paisley.

*Note: George & his wife are mentioned in 'A Drift of Derwent Ducks' by Trudy Mae Cowley in regards to female Irish convicts they hired as servants. See Research Tasmania for a description of the book.

8-11) ALEXANDER ANDERSON (Twin brother of Ebenezer) Born on December 2, 1809. He was a baker & kept a shop at the corner of St. Andrew & Saltmarket Streets in Glasgow. Alexander died early....+GRACE PATERSON- The birth date & place are currently unknown. Her father was ROBERT PATERSON (a coalmaster in the Parkhead district of Glasgow). She & Alexander were married on October 1, 1833 in Glasgow. Grace died shortly after her husband. Her father emigrated to America and took her children with him.

8-12) EBENEZER ANDERSON (Twin brother of Alexander)- Born on December 2, 1809. He was a Temperance League Agent. Ebenezer died on May 4, 1880 at 289 Cathcart Road in Glasgow. The cause of death was Influenza. His son, Ebenezer, was the informant of his death....+ELIZABETH DUNN- Born on June 21, 1821. Her parents were JAMES DUNN (Baker in Glasgow) & CHRISTINA BROWN.

9-1) ISABELLA ANDERSON- Born on April 27, 1821 & christened on May 16, 1821 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. She died on August 27, 1894 at the Airdriehead Farm in the Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Her burial took place at the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard. There is an April 30, 1895 Estate Inventory for Isabella but no will....+JOHN CHALMERS- Born on February 2, 1802 & christened on February 7, 1802 in Cumbernauld. His parents were THOMAS CHALMERS (farmer in Arnibog) & ANNE MORRISON. He married Isabella on June 18, 1844 in Cumbernauld. John was a farmer in Airdriehead & died there from an accident on January 4, 1858 at age 58. He's buried next to his wife.

9-2) MARGARET ANDERSON- Born October 8, 1822. She died on October 29, 1822 at 3 weeks old (Source: Cumbernauld Burial Register for 1817 to 1846).

9-3) JOHN ANDERSON- Born on September 1, 1823 & christened on September 10, 1823 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He, the eldest son, inherited the lease to his father's lands & farm in Smithstone. At some point John gave up the farm. He never married or had children. John died on November 21, 1896 at the Glenbrook Cottage, Dullatur, Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. His nephew, Thomas Chalmers, was the informant of his death. John's burial took place at the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard (see photo of grave below). There is a February 5, 1897 Estate Inventory for him but no Will.

9-4) GEORGE RONALD ANDERSON- Born on September 3, 1825 & christened on September 24, 1825 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He was a land steward in Bryanston, Dorsetshire, England; farmer in Smithstone, Parish of Cumbernauld; & then farmer in Lochgreen, Parish of Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland. George died on May 9, 1892 at 10:00 p.m. in Lochgreen. His brother, John, was the informant of his death. The burial took place at Lair G103 of the Falkirk Cemetery in Falkirk, Stirlingshire....+MARGARET BROWN DICK- Born on October 19, 1851 in St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Soctland. Her parents were ROBERT DICK (Registrar of births) & AGNES RUSSELL SPEIRS. She & George were married on September 25, 1877 at Sylvan Place (Margaret’s address) in Edinburgh. The minister was Robert Dick (her father?) of the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland in Colinsburgh, Parish of Kilconquhar, Fifeshire. She died on October 9, 1926 at 103 Maxwell Drive in the Pollokshields District of Glasgow. The funeral was held on October 13, 1926. She was buried in Lair G103 of the Falkirk Cemetery in Falkirk Cemetery, Stirlingshire.

* Note: George & Margaret were 3rd cousins. Their common ancestors were William Speirs & Janet Ker. They were also third cousins once removed of Margaret Russell (Mrs. Robert Anderson). She too was a descendant of William & Janet. In addition to that, Robert Anderson was a 1st cousin once removed of George. They share John Anderson & Elizabeth Stirling. See Margaret listed with Robert Anderson in generation 8 & also in the Russell history)


9-5) WILLIAM ANDERSON-Born July 20, 1827 & christened on August 3, 1827 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1851 (date mentioned in his father's estate inventory). It's the same year his 2nd cousin, John Anderson (Our direct ancestor - See in generation 9), came over. William was a farmer in Ancaster (now part of Hamilton), Wentworth county, Ontario. He died on September 4, 1892 and was buried in Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery in Ancaster....+ELIZABETH PHILLIPS NORRIE Born in February 1832 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Her parents were THOMAS NORRIE & MARGARET DANIELS. She died on February 12, 1915 and was buried in Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery in Ancaster.

9-6) JEAN ANDERSON-Born on April 3, 1829 & christened on April 23, 1829 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. She was living in Smithstone before her marriage. Jean's death date is currently unknown....+JOHN MEIKLE- Born abt. 1838 in Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland. His parents were THOMAS MEIKLE (a farmer) & CATHARINE BACHOP. Just before marriage, John was a farmer living in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. He & Janet were married on December 28, 1858 in Smithstone, Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The minister was D. K. Meikan of the Free Church of Scotland. John continued to work as a farmer & also as a hay dealer.

9-7) JAMES ANDERSON (See also Margaret Anderson in generation 9)- Born on December 16, 1830 & christened on January 9, 1831 in the Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Just before marriage he worked as a Draper (a dealer in fabrics and sewing materials), & his residence was at 29 Saint Andrew Square in Glasgow, Scotland. Later, James was a warehouseman at the John Millar & Sons' Warehouse at the Cross in Glasgow. He died on January 24, 1862 in Smithstone, Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. James' brother, George, was the informant of his death. The burial probably was at the Old Cumbernauld Churchyard (There is one J. Anderson, who died in 1862, listed in the "Cumbernauld Parish Churchyard Monumental Inscriptions" by the Lanarkshire History Society. It says he "belonged at one time to Smithstone. Shopwalker in Glasgow. Not married." A shopwalker manages salespeople and helps customers)...+MARGARET ANDERSON- Born: March 03, 1828 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland (probably at 15 Stockwell in the St. Enoch Parish of Glasgow). Her parents were ROBERT ANDERSON & MARGARET RUSSELL (See generation 8). She & James were married on February 7, 1856 at 56 Trongate in the Central District of Glasgow (Margaret's address at the time. It was originally her father's & step-mother's home located at Reid's Court). The minister was Alexander Wilson of the Bridgeton Free Church. Margaret's step-sister, Marion Provan, was also married at the same location & by the same minister (See generation 9). Margaret died at 56 Trongate on October 16, 1856 at age 28 (this happened 4 days after her only child, a premature 16 day old infant named Margaret Russell Anderson, died). The cause of death was Consumption, & she was buried at North Street Burial Ground in the Anderston district of Glasgow (In 1964 all remains from this cemetery were exhumed & re-interred at the banking of section 26 in the Linn Cemetery located at Lainshaw Drive, & no headstones survived).

* Note: James & Margaret were 2nd cousins & 3rd cousins. Their common ancestors were John Anderson & Elizabeth Stirling and also William Speirs & Janet Ker.


9-8) MATTHEW ANDERSON- Born on April 22, 1832 & christened on May 11, 1832 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He first worked at Robert MacKay & Co. (a Clothier) in Glasgow. Then Matthew immigrated to Canada around 1870. He settled near his brother (William) in Ancaster, Ontario. By 1881, Matthew was a farmer in Birtle, Marquette District, Manitoba. He died there on November 30, 1893 and was buried at the Birtle Cemetery....+EMMA MOTT- Born about 1833 in England. Her father was a farmer in Essex. Emma & Matthew had no children, but it appears that they took care of a niece named Elizabeth Mott (Mrs. Robert Hay Climie). Emma died at the Climies' home in Birtle on October 18, 1900 and was buried at the Birtle Cemetery.

9-9) MARGARET ANDERSON- Born on August 15, 1836 & christened on September 1, 1836 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Margaret died on January 7, 1837 at age "1 1/2" years old. She's buried at the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard (Source: Cumbernauld Burial Register for 1817 to 1846).

9-10) MARGARET ANDERSON- Born on January 20, 1839 & christened on February 1, 1839 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Margaret died on July 25, 1840 at "20 months" old. She's buried at the Cumbernauld Old Churchyard (Source: Cumbernauld Burial Register for 1817 to 1846).

9-11) JANET RONALD ANDERSON- Born on November 27, 1840 & christened on December 10, 1840 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland....+THOMAS POLLOCK HOSIE- Born on March 7, 1839 in Scotland. His father was JOHN HOSIE (rope maker in Glasgow) & ANN POLLOCK. He & Janet were married on December 7, 1865 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Thomas was a rope spinner in Glasgow.

9-1) PATRICK MARSHALL- Christened on July 3, 1822 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. He was a contractor in Kilsyth....+MARY DANSKIN- Daughter of THOMAS DANSKIN (A cotton weaver in Cumbernauld). She and Patrick were married on January 9, 1847 in Kilsyth. Mary died on January 5, 1900 at High Street in Kilsyth. The cause of death was Bronchitis. Her son, Thomas, was the informant of her death.

9-2) JANE MARSHALL- She died a year old.

9-3) MARGARET HAY MARSHALL- Born in March 1825 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. She died about 12 yearsold.

9-4) JAMES MARSHALL- Born about 1830 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. He was a farmer & then grain dealer in Dundee, Kane County, Illinois. In 1884 James & his wife moved to a farm near Cresco, Howard County, Iowa. It was located 4 miles west of Cresco on Howard Center Road. He died there on January 5, 1894 & was buried in Dundee, Illinois....+MARY EMMA DYGERT- Born October 18, 1842 in Algonquin, McHenry County, Illinois. Her parents were HENRY PLATT DYGERT & LAURA PECK. Mary & James were married on April 28, 1863 in McHenry County, Illinois. They had children. She died on April 21, 1927 in Cresco & was buried at the New Oregon Cemetery.

9-5) ELIZABETH MARSHALL- Died about 12 years old.

9-6) JOHN ANDERSON MARSHALL- Born October 15, 1838 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. He immigrated to the United States in 1861 & settled in the Algonquin & Nunda Township area of McHenry County, Illinois. John was a farmer & then grain dealer. He died on September 5, 1903 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois and was buried in Algonquin….+MARY SAMIS (1st wife)- born on October 4, 1853 in Canada. She & John were married on December 19, 1872 in McHenry County, Illinois. They had no children. Mary died on September 7, 1881 of Consumption and was buried in Algonquin....+MARGARET STRACHAN- Born on January 12, 1868 in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Her parents were CHARLES STRACHAN & CATHARINE REED. She & John were married on September 1, 1886 in Nunda, McHenery County, Illinois. They had children. Margaret died on March 7, 1946 in Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois. The burial took place on March 10, 1946 at the Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake.

9-7) AGNES MARSHALL- Born about 1834. She was unmarried. Agnes died on February 10, 1856 at Craighead in Kilsyth. Her father was the informant of her death, and she was buried at the Kilsyth Old Churchyard.

9-8) MARGARET MARSHALL- Had a dairy on North Street in Glasgow, Scotland. She was unmarried. Margaret died after 1903.

9-1) MARION ANDERSON- Born: July 1, 1824 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She carried on her father's business. Marion died on May 9, 1882 at her sister Margaret's house.

9-2) MARGARET HAY ANDERSON- Born on January 13, 1826 in Lanarkshire, Scotland. She died on February 13, 1904 & was buried in the Glasgow Necropolis (Lair 17 of the Lamba section)....+JOHN FISHER (1st husband)- Born on October 3, 1823 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. His parents were ARCHIBALD FISHER & ELIZABETH MILLER SINCLAIR. John & Margaret got married on June 11, 1857 in the Central District of Glasgow. They had no children. John was a shopman hatter living at 5 Stanhope Street in Glasgow. He died there on August 2, 1858. There is a September 8, 1858 Glasgow Inventory of Estate for him....+ARCHIBALD PARKER (2nd husband)- Born on October 31, 1833 & christened on November 18, 1833 in Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland. His parents were JOHN PARKER ( a weaver in Newmiln, Ayrshire) & MARGARET LYONS. He was a provison merchant in Glasgow. Archibald & Margaret were married on August 2, 1870 in the Central District of Glasgow.

9-3) MARY MILLER ANDERSON- Born: at the end of 1827 in Scotland. She died on October 26, 1870 at 116 North Frederick Street in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland....+JOHN FERGUSON EADIE- Born: c. 1832 in Scotland. His parents were JOHN EADIE (a weaver) & AGNES FULTON (sp?). Just before marriage he worked as a printer & lived at 11 Cathcart Street in Glasgow. John & Mary were married on June 16, 1859 at 15 North Portland Street (her home at the time). The minister was Alexander Leek of the Established Church of Scotland. John died in 1909 in the St. Rollox District of Glasgow.

9-4) JOHN ANDERSON- Born on November 11, 1829. He was a farmer & miller in Old Kilpatrick. Afterwards, he was a farmer & hopgrower in Marden, Kent, England. He died on December 15, 1876 in Kent....+JESSIE McAULEY (1st wife)- The birth date & place are currently unknown. Her father was JOHN McAULEY (manager of a soapwork)....+JANET GOVAN BAIN (2nd wife)- Born on June 7, 1840 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her father was JOHN BAIN (Grain merchant in Glasgow) & AGNES REID. Jane & John were married on December 18, 1866 in Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland....+ELLEN MARY OSBORNE (3rd wife)- The birth date & place is currently unknown. Her father was JOHN OSBORNE (a hopgrower in Kent). She & John were married in September 1873. They had no children.

9-5) JAMES MILLER ANDERSON- Born in June 1833. He was a commercial traveller. James died on April 7, 1906 at 189 St. Andrew Road in Glasgow. The cause of death was valvular heart disease. His son, Frederick W. Anderson was the informant .....+CATHERINE WALKER McNAB (1st wife)- Born on August 20, 1825 & christened on September 4, 1825 in Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her parents were PETER McNAB & ANN NEILSON. She & James were married on December 2, 1858 in Fife Park, Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Catherine died in childbed...+ISABELLA PANTON SIMPSON (2nd wife)- Born on December 16, 1832 in Edinburgh, Midlothianshire, Scotland. Her parents were DAVID SIMPSON (a baker in Glasgow) & HELEN YOUNG. She & James were married on April 24, 1863 in Bathgate, West Lothain, Scotland. They had two sons....+JESSIE RIDDELL (3rd wife)- Born about 1834. Her parents were ANDREW RIDDELL (a restaurateur in Glasgow) & ANNIE FERGUSON . She & James were married on October 15, 1873 in Dunoon And Kilmun, Argyllshire, Scotland. They had one child & were residents of the Mount Florida district of Glasgow....+MARY BROWN (4th wife)- Born on February 1, 1852 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland. Her parents were ROBERT BROWN & MARY McPHEDREN. She & John were married on October 5, 1893 in Gourock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.

9-6) ELIZABETH JANE ANDERSON- Born on November 21, 1840. She was a resident in Gourock, Renfrewshire, Scotland with her mother for a while. Elizabeth was unmarried. She died on April 3, 1908 & was buried in the Glasgow Necropolis (Lair 17 of the Lamba Section).

9-1) MARGARET ANDERSON- Born after 1830. She died on January 18, 1910 at Russell Street in Rothesay, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Margaret was buried at the local cemetery in Lair no. 169, Section L….+ROBERT ISAAC YOUNG- Born about 1833. His parents were ROBERT YOUNG (a seafaring man) & ANN MORRIS. He & Margaret were married on October 20, 1851 in Gorbals, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Robert Jr. was a woodcarver & guilder in Gorbals. He died in December 1864 at Bridge end street in Rothesay….+ALEXANDER MUNRO- Born about 1841. His parents were Donald Munro (a carpet weaver) and Catherine. Alexander was a hearth-rug weaver in Glasgow.

9-2) ELIZABETH ANDERSON- Born on September 16, 1833 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland....+(Unmarried) JAMES BROWN-Birth date & parents are unknown. James & Elizabeth had one illegitimate daughter named Catherine. On her birth record it says that James was an Iron [can't read word] Journeyman & Elizabeth was an envelope maker....+(2nd husband) WILLIAM McVEY- Born about 1836 in Ireland. His parents were WILLIAM McVEY (a mason journeyman) & Ms. REILLY. He & Elizabeth were married on December 19, 1862 in Glasgow's Tradeston District. William worked in Glasgow foundries. Hugh's son, John Chalmers Brechin of 14 May Terrace(?), was the informant of his death.

He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1910 with a Master of Arts and was awarded “First Class Honours”. David was skilled at speaking several languages such as French, German and Latin. He had a long career as a teacher and inspector of schools. David also joined the Military, became Captain in the 3rd East Yorkshire Regiment, and awarded the Military Cross for his services. A “CBE” (Commander in The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) was also given to him. His residences were in Glasgow (at 296 Renfrew Street during his third year at the University of Glasgow. His brother, Robert Dick Anderson, was also living there), Kilmacolm, and then Edinburgh. David died in 1980….+CATHARINE MARY STEVENSON- Born c. 1902. Her parents were HUGH FERGUSON STEVENSON (East India merchant) & LILY MacEWEN. She & David were married on July 15, 1930 at Landsdowne Church in the Kelvin District of Glasgow. The minister was Andrew Kerr Walton of the Claremont Church in Glasgow. Both David and Catharine were living in that city at the time. He was at 103 Maxwell, and she was at 8 Belmont Crescent. Catharine’s death date is currently unknown.

11-8) MARGARET HENDERSON BRECHIN- Born c. 1887 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She was a school teacher and never married. Her last residence was at 47 Newark Drive in the Pollokshields district of Glasgow. Margaret died on December 27, 1921 at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow. The cause of death was extensive injuries to the chest. She was hit by a car while crossing Pollockshaws Road. Her brother, John Chalmers Brechin, was the informant of her death.
