St. Blog's Parish
The Internet "BLOG" is the equivalent of
the soap box podium in the city park. You can mount the box and
say what ever you want for quite a while. Blogs are full of wasted
words, and we can waste a lot of time searching for them. But there is
a collection of Catholic Blogs that lets the reader meditate, question and
even pray now and then. And, of course, you are free to post your own
thoughts for others, or even start a Blog of your own. If you are
curious, check out this URL:
St.
Blog's Parish
The one thing
this site makes perfectly clear is that there are a lot of Catholics
wrestling with the love of God, just like Jacob, at Genesis 32:23.

The
occasion and inspiration for this web site is the May 29, 2003 promulgation
of the Decrees and Declarations (D&D) of the Tenth Synod of The Archdiocese
of Philadelphia.
After the Introductory D&D, the first major topic, in the list of 11, is the
problem of adult faith formation.

Synod go to: http://www.synod-phl.org/

First Paragraph of Declaration II, Adult Faith
Formation
"Throughout the world, the
Church is recognizing an upsurge in the desire of Catholic men and women of
all ages to have their faith life deepened, not only devotionally, but also
intellectually. In recent decades, pastors have noted the increasing desire
of their parishioners to participate in such activities as Bible study and
faith sharing. At the same time, for so many, catechesis, or education in
the Faith, ceases after high school or college graduation. For some,
catechesis ends after the completion of their preparation for the sacraments
of initiation which may be as early as fifth or sixth grade. As a result,
there are many adults who seek further understanding of the basic teachings
of the Church. This desire for knowledge of their Catholic Faith reflects
another deeper desire for a meaningful practice of the faith and religious
devotions."
