Welcome to Elk Lake

Elk Lake offers a number of camping spots in the vicinity of but not right on the lake. It is located in an old growth forest amid some incredible scenery. Jefferson and Washington creeks along with the Hamma Hamma river offer fishing. There is also fishing at Elk and Jefferson lakes. There are several nice hikes with in a short distance. Hood Canal is about twenty minutes away which has clams, crabs and oysters as well as saltwater fishing.

Directions to Elk Lake

  1. Take I-5 south to Olympia.
  2. Take exit 104 which goes to Aberdeen and Port Angeles.
  3. Just out of Olympia, there will be an exit to Highway 101 which leads to Port Angeles. Take this exit.
  4. Head north on 101 past Shelton and past Sanderson Field.
  5. Continue along 101 past Hoodsport, Lilliwaup and Eldon.
  6. About two miles past Eldon, make a left onto Forest Road 25.
  7. Take this road to the Hamma Hamma Campground.
  8. About a half mile past the campground, make a left onto Forest Road 2480 which goes to Elk Lake and Jefferson Lake.
  9. About two miles past this junction, make a right onto Forest Road 2401.
  10. Camping spots exist along this road.
