Port Townsend is a small community with a Victorian flair located between the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. It occupies a small peninsula and a quiet harbor. It offers saltwater fishing at the many beaches nearby. There is also fresh water fishing at Anderson and Gibbs lakes as well as the Chimacum and Quilcene rivers. Nearby is Fort Worden State Park and North Beach County Park containing several miles of beach access. Crabbing can be done at the docks in town or at Port Hadlock, while clams can also be found at Port Hadlock as well as Mystery Bay State Park. Fort Flagler State Park, Kala Point and more beach access is a short drive away and the ferry from town goes to Fort Casey State Park on southern Whidbey Island.

- Take I-5 north to
Edmonds.
- Take the exit to
Highway 104 and the Kingston
Ferry.
- Board the ferry and
sail to Kingston.
- From Kingston, stay on SR 104 and proceed to Port Gamble.
- From Port Gamble, continue on to the Hood Canal bridge.
- Continue on SR 104 until it intersects with US 101.
- Head north on US 101 until it intersects SR 20.
- Head east on SR 20 which leads directly to Port Townsend.
