Alder Falls
Directions:From Big Bay travel about 2.5 miles south on CR-550 until the first road on the right past Alder Creek. Take this road and follow the fork to the left until you see a trail to the falls about .7 miles. Notes: The two-track to the falls off of the main road was in really, really bad shape when I was there ( maybe I should say really, really, really bad shape) and I didn't think I was gonna make it for a second there even in my 4-wheel pick-up truck so be fore-warned. Also I drove up the two-track another 1/2 mile or so to Upper Alder Falls and got within 300 ft of the falls and decided that I didn't wanna trudge though the swamp to get to 'em as I couldn't find a path~sorry, no pics, I'm such a loser. I hate it when I let a fall get the better of me but it's happened before and it's gonna happen again. I haven't given up on these ones yet, maybe next time I'll wear boots. Update:
Went here in the fall of '09 to see if I could find the upper falls so I stopped in again.
The road back to the falls (Alder Truck Trail) wasn't in too bad a shape at all and you could probably get back there in a car. Also I
found the Upper Alder Falls this time, evidently I read the directions wrong, it's 0.15 miles, not 0.5 miles. I guess I'll have to change that from loser to just plain idiot.
