Pictured Rocks National Shoreline

Miner's Castle

Pictured Rocks National Shoreline lies between Grand Marais and Munising Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior. There is a visitor center at either end which should be the first stop for anyone visiting the park. Chapel Falls trailhead is about 18 miles northeast of the Munising visitor center at the end of Chapel Road. There is a well marked trail that leads to the falls and it's about a 3 miles round trip to the falls and back.Once at the falls you have to decide whether or not you want to hike all the way to Lake Superior, which is another 3 miles round trip (it feels like 6 miles). But if you go you get to see Chapel Rock (bottom left picture) which has a tree growing on it that's pretty cool. There's a tap root off to the right that you can't see in the photo that extends about 6-8 feet to shore that I'm sure somebody braver than me has walked across. Make sure you take the boat tour out of Munising Michigan. The other falls that I have in Pictured Rocks Lakeshore are Sable Falls , Miner Falls, Mosquito Falls, Unnamed Falls, and Munising Falls. While technically not in Pictured Rocks Tannery Falls are real close to Munising Falls
