Root Beer Falls

Water Source:

Planter Creek

County:

Ontonagon

Height:

6-8 ft

Trail:

300 yds

Location:

1 mile NE of Wakefield

Directions: From Wakefield take M-28 east around the lake and turn left on Wertanin Rd. Go down the hill and cross the creek and park. Follow the creek upstream about 300 yds to the falls

Notes: We got the directions from the Visitors Center in Wakefield so I don't know if this is on the map or that Root Beer Falls is the name but all you have to do is follow the (root)beer cans back to the falls. This waterfall may also be called Cashew Falls according to American Whitewater, I guess because you'd have to be a little nutty to kayak down it, or maybe they just named it that because of Planter's creek.
