THE STUMP GARDENS

July 13, 2009

There were three tree stumps in one corner of the backyard. To dress them up, Phebe made a flower garden around them and put pots of flowers on top of them. The three-dimensional effect was very interesting so this year we expanded on the concept.

We set up logs of varying heights in one long bare area along the fence to Pasture Two. Over the winter, Phebe started many pots of colorful plants in the new greenhouse. When the danger of frost had passed, we placed the pots on the logs. In addition to being decorative, the cats enjoy playing between the logs, hidden by the plants.

The Susquehanna Poultry Club had its annual show on March 22, 2009. This was our first year at the Harford County Fairgrounds and the show was a great success. For more information, click to the SPC poultry page.
