Charlton Hillis

Charlton Walters Hillis was born in Texas and grew up in Oklahoma.  She graduated from Morehead State University, Kentucky, with a  B.A. in Fine Arts and works as a graphic artist for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.  Her primary interest is short stories.  Southern literature, especially the works of Faulkner and O'Connor, is a major influence.  Other writing includes essays, poetry and articles on religion.  She is currently involved in a creative nonfiction project, documenting the work of Chattanoogan Diane Rankhorn in Russia.   She is married to Dick Hillis; they have two daughters and one grandson.
