Lindy Thomas and Pevine Creek Success is a relative term. Success to Thomas is the sale of over 1000 copies of his book. To Hillary Clinton, this would not be a successful endeavor. But, for Thomas this has been an exhilarating ride, exceeding his wildest dreams when he commenced work on the novel over 20 years ago. He has traveled over 14,000 miles doing public appearances and book signings, mainly at Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million stores over a 9 state area. The book has grossed over $20,000 so far. His innovative use of a Confederate Major’s uniform in all his public appearances has garnered a lot of attention across the country attracting the curious and those who are interested in the American Civil War period. He has made public and private appearances before a broad range of groups speaking about his writing experiences and talking about the American Civil War. These appearances have attracted FOX, CBS, and ABC television affiliates in Chattanooga, Denver, Savannah, and Scottsbluff, Nebraska as well as the print media who have reviewed the book and written feature articles illustrated with photos, some of which have appeared on the front page of their papers. Radio stations have appeared at news events for interviews. Mr. Thomas suggests that if your book has any chance of success you must turn from author to promoter. Sitting at a table in Barnes & Noble looking like an author will not sell many books, he says. You must move out and meet the public. Take a cue from the politicians; press the flesh and you’ll sell books, he advises. If you have any questions about his experiences with the publishing industry or would like him to speak to a group you may contact him at lindy.thomas@worldnet.att.net.
