Chattanooga Writers Guild 2004 Writers’ Contest Read the Winners of the 2003 contest. Open February 1—June 30, 2004 (postmark) Awards: Adult and Student Categories: First Place $50, Second place $25, Third Place $15. All winning entries will be published in an anthology; each winner will receive a free copy. Entries in Poetry, Fiction, Writing for Children, Creative Non-fiction, and Art. Adult and student (grades 6-12) divisions. An anthology of the winning entries will be published and each winner in each category will be given the opportunity to read at a special awards ceremony. After publication of the print anthology, all rights revert to the author. Winning entries will be published on the CWG website, www.chattanoogawritersguild.org, three months after the publication of the print anthology. Online publication will be archived for an indefinite period. Adult Category—Entry fees: Poetry: $5 per poem (39 lines max.), $3 per poem for CWG members. Fiction: $12 per story (3250 words max.), $8 for CWG members. Writers for Children: $12 per story (1500 words max.), $8 for CWG members. Creative Non-Fiction: $12 per piece (3250 words max.), $8 for CWG members. Student Category, Grades 6-12—Entry fees: Poetry: (39 lines max.) $2 per poem Fiction: (3250 words max.), $5 per story Personal Experience Essay: (3250 words max.) $5 per essay Art Contest—Entry fees: $12 per entry, $8 for students and CWG members. Art must be black and white (woodcut, pen and ink, linoleum cut, etc.) and 8-1/2 by 11 inches. Contest Guidelines:
Any entries that do not meet these contest criteria will not be considered in the contest and the entry fee will not be refunded. Entry fees must be paid by check or money order (please, no cash) payable to Chattanooga Writers Guild. Send entries and entry fees to: Chattanooga Writers Guild, Po Box 3087, Chattanooga, TN 37404. All writers who enter the contest may request a free copy of the newsprint edition of the anthology. Look for details on the CWG website. Judges will be announced during March, 2004.
