Third Amendment

" No soldier shall, in time of peace, be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner described by law. "

This amendment came about because the British government directed troops to take over the conlonists' homes as necessary so that they would be right where needed to enforce the tax laws. It was one of the many justifications in the Declaration of Independence. No cases regarding this amendment have ever reached the Supreme Court.
