Through the Vermont Online Library (VOL), the State of Vermont Department
of Libraries and your local library provide electronic information databases free to all Vermonters.These include
resources for all age levels and research needs. Because your
local library is a member of VOL, these resources are available 24-hours-a-day from not only your library but anywhere

In order to acquire remote access, you may call, stop in, or send an email to Reading Public Library stating that you would like to have access to the Vermont Online Library. The appropriate password will be provided to you. [NOTE: The password will only be given to residents of Reading, Vermont, or to current registered members of the Reading Public Library.] Once you have the password, you may log in at the following link: www.VTonlinelib.org

Heritage Quest Online
HeritageQuest Online is a collection of research materials for tracing family history and American culture. Beginning or professional genealogists can now use this on-line library, with original page images for all documents, from the convenience of their homes or at the library. Indexes and original page images mean no additional trips, inter-library loan requests or work by researchers or staff. With more than 25,000 books, the entire U.S. Federal Census, PERSI™ (Periodical Source Index), as well as other collections, HeritageQuest Online provides an opportunity to tap into one of the largest collections of genealogy material in the country.
