On October 29 we had pumpkin-carving at the library. 41 children worked on pumpkins provided by the trustees of the library. On Halloween night we lighted the pumpkins and placed them on the porch. We passed out candy to over 100 children. We had our last preschool story hour of the fall on November 15. We did 10 weeks, and expect to do 10 more in the spring. 148 adults and children participated. Thanks to all.

On November 19 the 3rd and 4th grade classes performed a short play at the library for the other schoolchildren. The production was put together by Lisa Rowell.

Finally, Heather Frost, who teaches 1st and 2nd grades, is going to be bringing the kids over every couple of weeks for a reading and to check out books.

I want to thank the people at the elementary school for their support and enthusiasm. I hope to continue to work with the administrators and teachers to keep the children reading. A special thanks to the school librarian, Mary McCallum, for her interest in the Reading Public Library. She has given time and materials, and her kindness is appreciated.

Library hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-7 (closed 3:30-4) and Saturdays 10-12. Happy holidays.

Cordially,
Tony
