We have spent several hundred dollars, obtained from the Freeman grant, updating nonfiction and reference books for teens. We have current materials on historical, social, environmental, and political issues. These might come in handy for school reports or homework assignments. We are going to concentrate next on grades K-8. I'll keep you informed. Some recent acquisitions for adults: romance novels Stealing the Bride, by Elizabeth Boyle, and Escape to Love, by Alice Wootson; A Short History of Nearly Everything, by Bill Bryson; The Face, by Dean Koontz; The Collected Short Stories of Louis L'Amour; The Lewis and Clark Journals; A Walk at Gettysburg, by James McPherson; Our Final Hour (A Scientist's Warning), by Martin Rees; Remember When, by Nora Roberts; and Judgment Ridge (The True Story Behind the Dartmouth Murders), by Dick Lehr & Mitchell Zuckoff.

Recently, we converted from dial-up to high-speed internet access. Over-all computer capability was upgraded as well, with improved memory and updated software. This will enable us to offer better internet service to the community, and should save the library some cash, which will be used for programming and books.

We have a new email address: reading.public.library@adelphia.net. You may email the library if you like with questions, requests, or suggestions. You may call, instead, at 484-5588. Or, better yet, drop in. Library hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m. (closed 3:30-4), and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Cordially,
Tony
