Dorothy & Bruce

Dorothy and Bruce bought their land in 1955 before the first ICC master plan. They built their house themselves in 1959. They've gardened in the same plot since 1956, when the entire area was surrounded by farms.

Bruce and Dorothy have raised three children in this home. They have provided child care for four grandchildren. Children and parents have enjoyed having a large yard where kids can play safely.

They are now retired, living on a fixed income. Their home is close to their doctors and hospitals. Their children and grandchildren all live within five miles.

Where they would go if their home were destroyed?

Instead of sitting on the porch listening to wind or birds or seeing the stars, watching their grandchildren grow, they would have lights, noise, traffic, congestion,
and long drives to see their family.
