Arkansas Composers Forum

April 1-2, 2008 - I've recently returned from an amazing time at Arkansas Tech University with the Arkansas Composers' Forum. Five composers with Arkansas ties were given two days with the fine Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band, to each rehearse, discuss, and perform a work.

Attendance by Arkansas' Composer Laureate, Dr. Wm. Francis McBeth, made this occasion an especially wonderful one for me. He has been a constant presence in my student and professional life. It was Dr. McBeth who blazed most of the trails that I follow in band writing and it was he who was invited to Warren "Bud" Dunhauer's band room when I was in Junior High
