OPP1:  Download Windebieste's "Gods and Monsters" map which includes the map's "ed" file.  Map designers will find this invaluable to study. Don't forget to download the "OPP Custom Textures" you will need for this map. You will need to place them in your "worldtextures" directory in a folder called OpenPyramidProject\temp.     

Version 1.2 has these features, fixes and tweaks:

* Added: Single Player Predator Skirmish with all map features updated to V1.2.
* Added: Miscellaneous Props including: Pred statues, Alien statues and wall trophies.
* Added: Brush work for extra Geometry details, both visible and hidden.
* Added: Marine Pick-Ups: Health, Armor, Shotgun, Flamer, SADAR, Smartgun and Minigun - plus Ammo to suit all Marine weapons present. (SADAR and Smartgun are only accessible during alternate door cyclings.)
* Added: Some skeleton Props with Combisticks stuck in/near them. (Can't have too many Combisticks in a map.)
* Fixed: Marines/Merc Players can now join the game without being isolated in a poison gas trap.
* Fixed: Narrowed gaps between the collapsed bridges so humans can make (risky) jumps across the abyss.
* Fixed: A couple of leaks have been plugged.
* Modified: Ambient sounds are now different.
* Modified: Doors are now timed to cycle every 3 minutes instead of 10 minutes.
* Modified: Reset Ambient Lighting (Now 12 12 12). Now easier to see without constant dependence on vision modes.
* Modified: Predator Vision Modes to be more AvP movie accurate.
* Modified: Minor changes to point lighting.
* Removed: The Marines/Mercs poison gas trap and pit area have been removed, deemed now to be obsolete.
* Removed: "Callout.dtx" removed from texture set.
* Plus many other small tweaks and improvements, too small and numerous to list.

"Revenge of the Malevolent Monkey"

We have now expanded this site to include some fun stuff put together by some of the mappers working on the OPP project to keep themselves from going insane.  Or maybe because they are making these crazy maps that drives them insane. Anyway, here is a really funny monkey map "Revenge of the Malevolent Monkey" that Windebieste put together because of all our rantings/ravings in the Diabolical Lab thread on PlanetAVP.  Feel free to download the map and ed file. Please make sure to review his readme.txt file on installation instructions and other important info about his map.

OPP2:  This is the 2nd Released map, as Part of the OPP By WsCandy. This maps sole purpose was to see how the ventilation system for the pyramid would work.  This is a really fun skirmish map that will test your skills against hordes of aliens.  Shifting doors and many traps will keep you on your toes.

*New Version Changes*

- The map is overall a lot bigger
- Updated geometry and details through out the map
- 2 secret areas are hidden in the multiplayer version of the map...
- New weapons have been added marines - minigun (Hidden in the secret area)
- Predator - disk and pistol (also hidden in a different area of the map)
- Includes MY AVP Green sprites for the aliens... in pred vision modes
- Vision modes have been Updated (more purple for heat vision & blue for Electrvision)
- Added Spawn Points For Corps
- Sorted Aliens getting to upper levels by adding a ceiling vent in the hive and also by adding a ramp going up a level
- Ladder Problem fixed...
- Updated lighting... got rid of the torches in favor of "Light Shafts"
- The number of traps has been updated from 2 to 9...
- Doors cycle every 2 mins
- Added more shifting doors due to the level increasing in size there are now 15 i think :S
- there are 4 levels for you to wander around on, updated from 2 levels
- Traps have been disguised into the floors good luck finding them and watch your step :P
- Also i new backing tune thanks to Corporal Hicks...

... AvP2 Open Pyramid Project Concept.

I have been thinking about building the Predator Pyramid from the AvP movie for some time now. ...but the more I think about it, the more I realize that the task is beyond the scope of a single individual to complete and do it justice. After all, to create a movie accurate pyramid interior (and/or exterior) requires more than just building the geometry. So, this is where I invite other artists and mappers in the Community to contribute necessary elements to successfully bring this Project to completion.

Textures: Possibly more critical than the world geometry for this map to be convincing is the creation of a custom texture set. No matter how accurate the structure is built in DEdit, if the pyramid doesn't replicate the movies appearance, it will be a disappointment. So, a complete set of custom textures will be required. Anybody - as individuals or as a team - who can provide art for the Project's custom texture set will be greatly appreciated. Floors, walls, ceilings, rock and ice textures will be required.  Also, a miscellany of alpha channel chromaKey textures for Translucent World Models such as the Alien3 motif that appears in the sacrificial chamber floor, spider webs and the spiked chains for the Queen's stasis pit is also desirable.

Geometry: Of course, a Project of this magnitude will require mappers. While I am capable of building the world geometry for the map in its entirety on my own, I would like to involve other AvP2 Community mappers in this Project. This will speed up the construction process considerably and see its release many months ahead of just having a single person dedicated to building the entire map.

I think that the best method to accomplish this is to build the map as a series of modules. Mappers can register their interest here in this forum thread and choose a location that they wish to construct. Making such notes on this thread will prevent any unnecessary duplication and work in progress can be tracked easily. Mappers can then submit their finished prefab.ed file and once enough rooms/chambers/corridors etc. have been collected, I will be able to stitch the whole thing together as a functional map. If more mappers are involved, then the faster it will all come together.

Miscellaneous other corridors, rooms and locations will probably also be required. This is just a brief, suggested list so if there is something you want to build, register it in this thread.

Models and Skins: There are also a few features in the map that will require modellers to also make a contribution to the Project to help bring the map to life. The models only need to be static props and won't require any animation:  Predator statues holding Combisticks.  Mummified corpses. Wall mounted skull and vertebrae trophies. Mounds of bones.

...and no doubt a variety of other features will also be needed. Anybody who can make such completed models will be greatly appreciated.

I am confident that there is enough talented people in the AvP2 Community to build this map. By providing this Project with some much needed assistance from these folk, I am prepared to see the Open Pyramid Project through to completion. Regardless, this Project needs your help. I anticipate it will take 6-12 months to complete - possibly even quicker - if a reasonable number of people are involved. If you can make a real contribution in any way, please register your interest in this thread and how you can assist.

Any constructive suggestions, words of encouragement and support you may have to help make the AvP2 Open Pyramid Project a reality are also welcome.
