 Reflection blog...
1/1/2012 - Happy New Year!!! Reflection
Cottage is all ready go to again! New Xbox is installed, one of the
new slim ones with built-in wi-fi for those of you with Live accounts or
Netflix subscriptions. Also found this cute Japanese tea pot to go with
the tea cups we've had. Pretty soon we'll have to rename the place
Reflection Coffee & Tea!
12/17/2011 - Happy Holidays to everyone! We got
the new Xbox and it'll be installed on 12/27. And since it's the new
style, it'll be wirelessly connected to the internet, which means
on-line gaming and streaming media if you have those kinds of accounts.
11/23/2011 - Happy Thanksgiving! We took a few
days over the weekend to spend at SB. The weather was clear and cold the
first day, but we were busy working on the cottage, painting etc. Then
of course I broke the cardinal rule and didn't go to the beach when it
was sunny. Next two days were wet, wet, wet.
But, we had one of our best trips anyway! We played some serious
Monopoly games, some other board games, and for the first time went to
the Colours ceramics studio and spent four hours painting pieces. It was
so much fun, and it was great to see the kids engrossed in something
besides YouTube. And the pieces came out great! I think I want to do
that every time we go.

The pool was open but we never made it; next time.
Anyway, Reflection Cottage is all spiffed up and ready for you
again. Painted the white trim and the yellow walls, did maintenance on
the various things, and made sure everything was there. One Xbox was
dead again, so the replacement is on order. Good thing there are two in
the house.
Someone turned the Wii upside-down for some reason, and I was almost
ready to order a replacement, when I realized that flipping it over let
it work normally. Whew.
By popular request, we now have a waffle maker in the house! The
instructions say to use solid shortening to grease it before each use,
and not to use spray oil. So come prepared if you plan to use it!
Nothing worse than sticking waffles.
See you at the beach!
10/23/2011- Just got back from a short visit to
Reflection. Wow, the house was in fabulous shape (thanks
everyone!) and a lot has changed in Seabrook! Weather was mostly dry and
unseasonably warm. Started off with a trip through the forest trail to
the beach. I just love this view when you emerge from the trees:

When I got there, I had the beach to myself. Well, there
was this one guy running past, and a couple of seagulls, but I was OK
with sharing with them!

The new Colours studio building is up, a huge area south
of town has been cleared, and several new homes in the Madison Lane
neighborhood are coming up. One of the few remaining lots in the
original part of town now has a house on it, and the big news: The pool
is built and has water in it! Not sure when it'll open, but it looks
great from the outside:

See more pictures on our
facebook page.
Spent the day cleaning and shining things up, and making
sure everything was there and in new condition. The cottage is ready to
go for another season.
I will update the guest journal page with the latest entries, and I have
to say, reading about those special memories that get made in
Reflection really makes it worth the effort. This is exactly the
vision we had when we got in to the cottage in the first place, and
we're just so happy that it's really happening!
9/26/2011 - Hi all! Well, it's almost October
and we still haven't made it up to Reflection, but mostly because
it's been so busy. That's great that everyone has been enjoying the
place so much, but I want my turn to play too! ;-) I guess
we'll have to wait until fall again, but that's OK.
I've been hearing from guests that everything still seems to be in great
condition, so thanks to everyone and to the Cottage Rentals Housekeeping
staff! 5/30/2011 - Well, I thought it was spring two
months ago...there's still snow falling in the hills! I'm sure
spring/summer will come sooner or later! Things seem to be humming along
just fine, with some exterior painting on order to spruce things up a
bit. Hope to get out there in June to renew anything that needs cleaning
or fixing. 3/21/2011 - It's spring! We managed to squeeze
in a couple days to both work on the house and relax. We had
rain and drizzle and some sun. We did a lot of the usual refilling,
refurbishing, cleaning, polishing, and repairing. Took our lunch and ate
it in the little gazebo at the top of the stairs. Checked out the yurt
going up along the oceanfront path; I hear that's where you'll be able
to get a massage soon with a view and the sounds of the ocean. What a
great idea! But for the last couple hours we've
all been quietly reflecting! Not sure why. I packed up all the
maintenance boxes early for a change, and read the paper on the window
seat...what a treat! Had a nice warm fire in the
stove this morning. Cooked great meals. Had lots of K-Cup servings.
Chatted with some of our friends in the Seabrook team, which was so fun
as usual. Checked out the new construction, and watched a bald eagle fly
circles above town. Just goes to prove that even
a short trip can be so wonderful. Tomorrow: Pack
up, say goodbye to our friends here, and get some take-out Teriyaki
before we head home! Based on our journal, more
and more people are staying at Reflection multiple times, and that is so
great. It's like we're growing our own family, and hope hope they all
feel like this is their place as much as we do. The calendar has
been quite full even during winter, so I look forward to having many,
many more people enjoy what this little gem has to offer.
12/28/2010 - Happy Holidays everyone! Spending
the week at Seabrook, and it's as fun and relaxing as ever. We were
planning to do a "real" vacation, but there is always something to clean
or maintain to make everything perfect. The wi-fi routers needed a
tune-up, and some steak knives went missing so we placed a quick order
to replace all of them. Other than that, the cottage looks great!
Pretty chilly on the beach today, but still nice. Watched a Seagull
feast on a crab; I had no idea how quick they can take a whole crab and
leave just the empty top shell. That was a happy bird!
The Cafe is undergoing a re-make, so it's closed until February, but the
Pantry is as great as ever. I hear the enclosed swimming pool facility
is definitely on the way now, after being put on hold for a while.
It's a clamming weekend, so the whole town is just about booked.
Updated the journal page on the site. You know, it really warms our
hearts to hear people say they enjoyed their stay and will be coming
back again. We feel like you are all part of our family, and
Reflection is home for everyone who seeks refuge here. This is
exactly the experience we hoped to create. Thank you all!
And here's a typical day at Seabrook!
